Call Drops out of nowhere and Phone Hangs during call

    Hi,

    It seems like my Samsung Behold2 the call drop ratios is extremely high, call drops out of no where and sometimes I have seen full bars on phone but still calls get dropped.

    Another issue that while on the call the other parties voice will stop coming, the phone will be running and shows the call timer on as well, cannot end the call if this happens, the dialers just seems like hanged. only thing to come out from this issue is either take the battery out or somehow manage it to go in airplane mode.

    Any one experiences this issue? Is it Android issue? Or Samsung Touchwiz issue?

    This is extremely frustrating issue for me as it happens at least couple of times a day.

    I also started a thread with this same issue, but nobody responded. I think its an android 1.5 issue because this used to happen on my G1 when it ran android 1.5

    I was having this issue but i fixed it with forcing it onto the 850mhz. While u guys are probably on tmobile so this doesnt help u much.

    First you type in *#197328640# Then go to debug screen, then phone control, then GCF test Mode, Next turn on GCF test mode, Click on network mode after GCF test mode is on. GSM Band Preference is your next choice. I only chose GSM 850 you could choose both but GSM 850 works the best for me here in alaska.

    so what will be the choice? Wait and watch till samsung/tmobile comes with upgrade? Has any one tried 2.1 or 2.0 on behold 2?

    any take on when 2.0/2.1 coming to this phone to improve stability....? getting frustrated everyday, this is the 3rd equipment who is dancing with the stupid issues...

    Stability ? The phone works ,with a few tweeks its even better . With what you guys are asking for (guessing you don't have strong 3G so it defaults to Edge ) all you have to do is download from the market *anycut* , then from your home screen press n hold on a blank area ,select shortcut, then anycut ,choose activity, then scroll down till you find *phone status* select then ok ..when you open that shortcut you will see all info about your phone's radio . You can also change the radio from the default wcdma+gsm (3G & Edge) to gsm only or wcdma only..
    To the guy who keeps posting about dropped call on the behold2 in every forum , please give more info, were you using BT headset ? , when does the drop call happen , . This shortcut with anycut is a good way for you to troubleshoot if its the radio that's failing or just your coverage area . I know you said you have other phone that work perfect in the same area , but are there 3G devices ? More info please......

    thanks, will test it at couple of places.

    For me call drop happens everywhere, at my work where I see full bars as well, happened at the tmobile store!! I never use BT or any other headphone while on the phone. I have another moto cliq which happens to run pretty smoothly.

    Also another issue I face is that while on the phone the phone hangs in the middle of the call and you cannot do anything if that happens, the dailers keeps ticking seconds, you cannot end the phone or do anything. to get out of this situation either turn on airplane mode and turn it off or remove the batter and add it again to start.

    Tmobile investigated the case for me and at my home they have full 3g and 5 bar coverage....

    Well hope you can use the anycut shortcut to debug this issue. Are you running a bearbones behold2 ,no apps installed?

    yeah testing anycut solution, WCDMA only mode dropped couple of calls yesterday currently running GSM only mode so far no calls dropped yet.

    when the new phone came from tmobile after replacement they have bearbones 1.5 no other apps and they had the call drops and hang issue, but right now I have some basic apps to make phone usefull suggsted by tmobile apps.

    So solution leaning that either use 3g internet or phone..

    seems like this is it, while surfing heavily turn the 3g on and rest of time force it to edge...

    I have had my SB2 replaced 6 times, and am currently waiting on my new Motorola Cliq from Tmobile because this phone is garbage IMO.

    I TOO HAVE HAD SEVERAL OF THE PHONES HANG UP AT RANDOM TIMES WHILE ON CALLS. Full bars. No service issues. This is just one problem among many.


    There is NO more information that can really be given. I can have a conversation in my house at my job, at the mall, at the Tmobile store, ... the phone will just end the call at any given time.

    The things this phone are supposed to do are great. I have owned 7 behold 2's in 2 months and they have all had the memory card problem, 4 have locked up on the start up and I have traded or done hard resets, 2 have had issues with the volume being all the way up but I can barely hear through the ear piece/speaker or hear ringer/notification.

    I cant wait for an update. I have considered flashing it to Galaxy. But I am not sure why I have to alter a phone I spent $450 on.

    Yes I have experienced same issues but with any cut solution they are almost gone except out of blue hanging.

    Absolutely cant wait for update now...

    all you guys having these signal issues and dropped calls, replace your sim card. 90% of signal issues like this can be corrected by an updated sim card. unless its a coverage thing. Give that a try:)

    I have changed till now 5 sims in old phones hasn't tried that in new one, will go and do it and see what happens..
