So.....my camera and camcorder won't open.

I click the icon and and a little white icon that looks kind of like an ipod pops up for a second on a black background then it goes back to my homescreen.

    Thoughts? Suggestions?

    Thanks!

Try taking out the battery for a minute hopefully that might help ...

I was having this problem as well. I think for me it was a battery I bought from ebay. But I am still not sure.

So it actually started after a battery pull but my roommate just suggested powering off with the power button and now it works fine.

    Weird.

I used to get something like that on the Hero.... it was like the camera would just fail and crap out epically, requiring a basic soft reset. Oh well, can't get away from all the problems.

I had that issue, killed some tasks and uninstalled a few apps and it went back to normal.

I had this problem as well after upgraded to 1.47 baseline. However, once I fully charged the handset (100% battery full) and rebooted it, the camera began to function again. Before that, each time I tabbed on the camera icon, it returned to Home screen and threw the same exception on the DDMS console.

EDIT: I charged through the USB cable from my PC. Not from the wall directly.

Hi, after 4 days of resetting and installing diffrent roms, I was about to unroot phone when I went into recovery, hold volume down button and power on, then recovery then advanced and wiped Dalvik Cache. and fixed fix permissions. Then reboot and guess what camera is working (atleast for now). Hope this works for you.

My camera phone was doing the same thing, black screen. Turns out dropping my phone the last five times caused the camera lens to slip. The Sprint people "re-seated" the lens and now it works.

The same thing happened to my HTC Incredible S. I reset it to factory defaults, and took the battery out for several minutes, and it works fine!
