Camera settings

I notice after making some camera setting adjustments like sat and sharp the phone reset these these settings back to default.
Is that just the way it is no way to save them permanent?
I guess I just need to check all setting before a shot.

Update:
I decided to try not to close camera app down if I dont then all settings seem to be saved.
