Root Can a Desire updated ota to Froyo be easily rooted yet?

Hubby has a sim free Desire bought about 3 months ago from ebay.

i debranded my own desire with the goldcard method, and then using the unrevoked method i rooted my phone.

Hubby updated his Desire over the air to 2.2

Has an easy method to root this 2.2 update been created yet.

Didn't mind taking a chance with my phone, but not with someone elses!

Not sure if it has been successfully done yet, there are some conflicting stories about it.
Teppic74 may be able to shed some more light on it.

I had updated my Desire to 2.2 OTA and it was a bit of a mission rooting it as it had been upgraded to hboot 0.92.

Basically I found a guide to downgrade the hboot to 0.80 and then root it which all went smoothly.

Nothing to do with hboot, the guide is incorrect. Froyo can't be rooted, so you have to downgrade Android and root that. The method is here:

Do NOT do this if you have an SLCD screen.
