I know i am not the only one to have this problem, but this phone wont let me delete my messages. When I first got the phone it took 2 seconds to delete a thread of 100... Now I try to delete a thread with even 20 and it force closes or freezes my phone. I am sick of it and I have tryed everything, I was even close to taking the phone to the store and getting a diffrent phone. I dont want to spend the money or waste any more time trying to delete these messages so... can someone please tell me how to factory reset?

While holding down both the volume-down toggle and the send or "phone" button, press the power button also works (start with the phone off)

I would also suggest using an app like "Delete Old Messages" to keep your message count down.

There's an app called SMS Backup and Restore which can, in addition to the obvious backing up and restoring of your text messages, delete the entire message store with a button click. I've used it to delete several hundred messages and it's pretty fast; not sure how fast it is with thousands. You could try it, though - it's a free app.
