Can get email but not internet

Finally got my Desire but having difficulty setting it up.
After some time I did figure out my email setting - receiving anyway.

I can get email but nothing I try on the internet works. I am using a WiFi connection and for sure the email is coming through the net but no website I have tried goes through. Even ones I can get with my laptop.

Please help.

Hello!

I have a similar problem but only at work where I access the internet via a proxy. Problem is theres no place to input the ip address of the proxy (at least that I've found) so at work, I cant get out onto the web. Not sure if this helps but hopefully a bit
