I want to add a menuitem to message application. Is there any APIs that can do this? Any help would be appreciated.

No concrete help, but a tip.

The Barcode Scanner app seems to add a menu item to the Contacts (aka. Dialer) app; it shows an additional "Show barcode" option when viewing a contact.

Now, the interesting bit -- the Barcode Scanner source code is available (browse it online here), so you might be able to figure out how they pulled it off.
