Help Can not access my files with file manager

My screen broke and blacked out. Just a black screen now. The phone still does turn on. I can access pictures on the computer, but I also want other things such as whatsapp. I need the file manager for that I guess. Of course I can not turn on "USB debugging" or whatever that was to use the file manager. I have no idea what to do now. Is there a way to get around this?

Never looked into that. So probably not rooted.
