Help Can the HTC EVO 4G's 65k color limit possibly be upgraded to 16m colors through root

Well, seeing the pictures that reemas posted, I'd say it's definitely noticeable. I grabbed the same picture off the net and looked at here on my Hero... it looks a lot closed to the iPhone's screen than does the Evo. This is a weird and odd ball way to cut corners on cost...

Just downloaded a a super high res version of the picture to try my hardest and see if the colors don't blend as well on a bigger picture on my Hero, it still looks almost identical to the iPhone version. If this is what's really true with all this; Son,I am definitely disappoint.

My $10 is bet towards my hunch that they had to limit the screen to 16bit because of the size or something, cutting costs any way they can to get it out for under $500.

I've put the pics on my Evo, and the gray color-scale shows very sharp banding, which is very disappointing to me... The Lighter pic does show banding in the halo, but it's not terrible.

All in all, I love this phone, but do wish that the display had been 24 bit (or at least 18 bit)!
