When I connect the USB cable to my wife's phone, it will charge, but it never gives me the option to use it for data like my EVO does. I have searched here and over the net and the only suggestion people really gave were rebooting and turning on/off debugging mode. Neither made a bit of difference for me whatsoever.

It is a used phone that I purchased from someone on here, but everything else on it has been flawless. I think it may be using a custom 2.1 install, but I am unsure. I guess I could try reverting it to stock.

You can always revert to see if a clean install corrects it. But I don't use the USB anymore. I use ES File Explorer from the market and transfer all my data over WIFI. A little bit slower but not by much. So much easier and I don't have to have yet another cord laying around.

One glitch: If you are transferring music files, once it is completed, you have to turn the phone off and back on for the SD card to properly mount the files. May just be a glitch on my phone. But it is no big deal since I cycle my phone on and off once a day anyhoo.;)

Once you get the hang of it, it works great. Make sure you have your network shares on as well and you may have to tweak your PC or router firewalls.

Just got my Moment, so forgive me if I use incorrect lingo.
After you plug your phone to your computer via a USB cord, your phone will show the USB icon at the upper notification area. Touch the icon and pull it down, which will open a dialog box. The dialog box will say "USB connected, select to copy files to /from your computer." Select (touch) this icon and another box opens asking if you want to "mount" the drive to copy files to and from the phone. Press the mount button and your computer will read & recognize the memory card on your phone. You will then be able to use the phone as storage for pics/files.

Several of people have had this problem and it turned out to be the USB cable. It would charge, but not allow data transfer. Might be worth a try.

I know how the USB works, it works fine on my EVO, just not on my wife's phone. As I said, it charges, but doesn't show any signs after that of being connected via USB.

I might have to try this. I just took out the card and placed the files manually this time, but that would get a bit tedious to do over and over again.

I have other cables, I'll give it a whirl.
