Can't connect my phone to Dr Fone, can't recover lost images

Hello, I deleted images accidentally and Ive been trying for hours to recover them with dr fone and mobi saver but they both fail to connect. I go through the first step of enabling usb debugging in the phone but then the application never completed the connection and I never get to browse the phone through this application.

Is this a known issues? My android is 4.4.2 and I am trying to do it from my laptop windows 7
