Help Can't sync photos from verizon GNex to my macbook

I've tried connecting as a camera and all I get is the spinning wheel of death, it never connects in iphoto. Anybody know a solution?

Using the dropdown to choose camera mode works fine for me. Not sure if this matters but I also have Android File Transfer (for MTP) mode installed, PTP should work fine for you though. What OS are you on? I have only tried on MTN Lion.
