Has anybody been successfull in exchanging a captivate for an atrix through warranty?
Is there something wrong with your cappy? If there really is, they will not exchange it for different phone unless this is your 3rd replacement.
I am on my 5th replacement. Still have the shutdown issues and of course the GPS issues that they won't admit so I want an equivilant phone. They are offering me the Infuse 4G but my argument is that I am giving back a $200 phone for a $100 phone.
I was successfully able to do it. I got customer service to agree to an Atrix for $50 with a new contract. However, I did not want a new contract. I want to get an LTE phone next summer when my contract is up. I contacted the Bureau of Better Business with the complaint. I talked to a guy and the presidents offer and he resisted the first day. We talked a few days later and he agreed to send the Atrix for $100 without a contract. Well I got my Atrix and he never ended up charging me for it. So yes, as long as your persistent and polite, I believe you can talk your way into it. My biggest point was they were replacing the Captivate with refurbished Captivates even though he admitted they have had lots of problems with the Captivate before December. the reps i spoke with knew about the gps problem and random shutdown problem. i didnt exchange my captivate once, i told them i wasnt going to accept a refurb replacement just to hope i wasnt going to have any issues. i was offered the inspire for $75 plus a $30 credit a month for 6 months also i got to keep the captivate.
Did they lock you into a new contract?
I think they were supposed to but I noticed I still have my available upgrade for later this year so my contract wasn't extended. But to be honest I have been with att for 6yrs and can't get my plan for 5 lines with data, unltd text etc for what I get it for at att. Plus I have no problems with the service so I don't see myself switching anytime soon.
