Help Captivate shuts down??

Hi,
Samsung Captivate shuts down itself as soon as I plug into the USB port and I can't do anything on. I had to unplug and then it reboots to unlock screen.
Installed the Kies from samsungapps site and installed it.
If I select mass storage on phone, I get message in Kies that this mode is not supported switch to PC Studio mode. Others modes doesn't connect at all.

I don't even the get the option for mounting the card from top menu. Just connected to usb.

Any help please, appreciate it.
