I saw it midnight release. I thought it was really good. It was at least as good as the first movie. It leaves out some details from the book, similar to the first movie.
[Hide]I had to explain to my family about district 13 and the war that started the hunger games, and about the rebel hovercraft taking Katniss out in the end.[/Hide]
The arena stuff was just as cool as I hoped it would be on screen. Even with it being a little condensed, it still had all the cool stuff from the book.
It was great. I'm glad they covered more of the political undertones of this plot vs the first film. Philip Seymour Hoffman was excellent, as were Woody Harrelson, Liam Hemsworth, and of course, Jennifer Lawrence.
I can't see the appeal in this series. I know it's a big time young adult fiction, but I just couldn't get into the first movie. Plus it's basically the same movie as Battle Royale which is by far superior.
