Root Chrome to Phone for 2.2

Anyone get their device to register?
Froyo Feature: How to use the Google Chrome to Phone Extension | Android Central

I'm trying, and it's just stuck at "Registering Device".... This is one of the most important features for me.

Another of the very cool features we saw during the Android 2.2. Froyo announcement at Google IO was the "Chrome to Phone" extension, available for Google's Chrome browser. In a nutshell, it sends a web page from your desktop or laptop browser to your phone, in just a matter of seconds. Here's how you do it:

1. Download the Chrome to Phone extension for the Chrome browser.
2. Download the Chrome to Phone app for Android 2.2. [Download directly on your phone here.]
3. Install both, and "Register" both.
4. To send a page, just click the "Chrome to Phone" icon on the Chrome browser.

It's stupidly simple, and we're already tweaking this some to send files and what not to Froyo in just a matter of clicks.

Oh, you want more? OK. How about a Firefox extension? Sure thing. Snag it here. Then just right-click on a page to send it to your phone. Check out the Chrome to Home project homepage if you want to know more, and check out our video of it in action after the break.

Why would I need a webpage Chrome to Phone? Now if it did other things as they suggest, I can see the benefit.

Send direction from Maps / Mapquest, send an invitation code to your phone so you can show it to the place you're going, send a page description of an item that you are going to pick up in the store....

Possibilities are limitless.

You're in your office or at home, and you're on a webpage. You have to leave but want to finish reading the page. One click pushes that page right to your phone, automatically opening the browser.

This also works with Google Maps. You can use your PC or laptop to find some place on Google Maps, or create a route. Then just push it to your phone as you're headed out the door. Sweet!

FWIW, I can't get my DROID to "register" either. ARGH!

Also the new app marketplace online, send apps straight to your phone. That's also something cool I'm looking forward to.

there must be a solution, i was actually more excited about this than most other froyo features.

Well since the .apk is straight from google, it might only be designed with the Nexus One in mind since the Nexus One is the only phone that is supposed to have 2.2 right now. They might even be blocking registration of Droids on their end.

There is already an issue created on the Code Wiki - see Issue 69 - chrometophone - Does not register on Moto Droid with 2.2 - Project Hosting on Google Code and add your name to it.

Maybe its just because there hasnt been an offical release of 2.2? Just sayin.

Looks like we dont have the most "current" setup yet?!

Looks like an old build, it can't work until you get a more recent one, the google services had some string changes. Sorry - please reopen if you have an official ( or current ) build and still have this problem.

Doesn't surprise me... this is a port of the version that was released earlier for the N1... I'm sure that they are still working on it... it will not be official or current until they release the code on AOSP...

I don't really use Chrome, but I love me some Firefox. If that works too like that site says, I'll have to DL.

I have the Fx extensions already installed - I have Chrome on my machine, but I use Fx religiously....

With the 2nd leak of Froyo(Released 6/8), my device registered in about 5 seconds. Works perfect, including google maps. It loaded the address right up, I clicked on it, hit navigate....prrrrrrfect
