Root clearing dalvik cache

if i were to clear dalvik cache, will it erase app data (things like battery calibration, reminders, game scores, etc)?

No.

You can either do it from recovery if it supports it or from adb by doing rm -r /data/dalvik-cache/*

You should then reboot right away. Dalvik cache is just an 'optimised' version of the app for your particular architecture. If you delete it, it'll just regenerate it in next boot.

ihve had this problem but tiwth the galaxy rom and my market somehow was moved to my sd card becuase i had app2sd.

reformatted and never used apps2sd after that to much of a hassle

Okay so I've just set up a custom mod at XDA, and the kitchen advised that I should clear the dalvik-cache.

I've located the folder at data/dalvik-cache.

Can I just delete the contents of this folder through Root Explorer. If not how do I clear it through clockwork recovery?

I'm getting more used to the tech side of rooting, and installing mods, but somethings are still a bit alien to me.

Adb is android debug bridge. Adb is used in order to maintain a connection with the computer and phone.it is used for dev purposes such as applying root or deleting or activating files. You must have all drivers installed for your particular phone in order to use though. If you need further assistance just give me a pm and I will walk you through it.

Why you are posting to the behold 2 root forum when you don't have it? Please post your question in the correct forum. You'll get better info that way as all android devices are different. In your case that would be the htc desire forum.

FYI yes you can just delete the contents using root explorer. Then reboot the device.

Your very correct was wondering the same. He's probably thinking of getting a behold 2 or has a friend who has it and needs answers. Isnt the htc desire a better phone then behold 2?
