Help Clockworod recovery will not factory reset

I flashed cwm recovery for this phone. I can not seem to do a factory reset or wipe cache without cwm locking up and forcing me to remove the battery and reboot. Any thoughts, tips or suggestions?

Try just formatting data,, cache and dalvik separately?

Already tried. All it does is lock up and I need to pull the battery.

I'd verify that you've got a good download of CWM...

I don't see that the MD5s are published on https://www.clockworkmod.com/rommanager, but if you re-downloaded and compared the MD5 to the one you already have, that might tell you something (or if someone will post-up the MD5 of their file for comparison's sake (looks like the current version for the Prevail is 6.0.2.7)).
