Closing Apps: Samsung Acclaim

Is there a simple way to exit apps like: browser, email settings? I've been turning the phone off to do so.

To kill applications: Settings - Application - Manage Applications - Select Application - Force Stop

To kill services: Settings - Applications - Running Services - Select Service to Kill

I also recommend not using any task killers/managers. While there is an ongoing dispute of whether or not they're needed, I personally think they slow down my phone, do not preserve any battery life, and sometimes prevent e-mail and facebook notifications.

Since most task killers remain running in the background to monitor what applications are running, they themselves use up resources, including battery power. And yes, there is ongoing debate whether they are worth their expense in terms of resource usage.
