Interesting.. Although I couldn't get this one to install... it was stuck in a bootloop.. Should I have formatted my Ext4 again?

It uses the same installer as Hroark's (it's his ROM with tweaks added to the system folder) flashes fine on mine and brothers. Check the md5?

Look up portable md5 checker in Google. Portable apps.com has a package with a portable program so you don't need to install

Maybe I will give it another shot tomorrow... I threw CTMOD 3.3 back on for now and installed some of my favorite apps back on for the time being... thanks!

I flashed the CM9 and so far I love it. I have ran into a couple of problems that everyone may already be aware of but I havent seen them posted anywhere so I figured I would share them. I cant get any SU apps to work, I tried updating my SU but nothing happens. I also tried several times to flash the OC kernal and every time I do it bootloops. Ive cleared Dalvik, factory reset and every other option I usually do when I flash a new rom but for now Im just playing with the new rom and looking for ways to make it better. I guess my biggest concern is whats up with my SU ? Its the newest version but it wont grant me any su for any apps that need it. Awesome work by all of you BtW !

you already tried to update su binary?

i have been messing with cm9 for a while and i havent had any issues with su permission..if it were me id reflash the rom..then as soon as you boot up before adding any apps...try updating the su binary..then start doing everything els

I am assuming that the camera and video still do not work for this?

No the camara requires building some new drivers for our camara model. The link is down. Once i get home i will look into this.

    riflez should check out minus.

they give you a ridiculous amount of upload space per upload..

with mediafire i think its only 200mb each upload..but I'm porting an htc rom that is more then twice that so somehow i stumbled across minus

i just found minus last night. i was rooting an old fascinate for a friend and all the links were megaupload. finally found some on minus, explored a bit and immediately signed up. unlimited bandwidth and indefinite storage. i'll take two, please.

on a side note, the friend wanted his phone wiped to sell it for an iphone. i told him i would do it and, instead, made a 'half-assed rom' of sorts for it. deodexed and optimized and such. so now he's keeping it. no doubt if carriers didn't screw with it and add so much bloat, android would have surely destroyed iOS by now.

The iPhone will continue to have the 'cool factor' a while, but without Steve Jobs the company will innovate less and start to produce more 'mass production' type products.

I expect Apple to continue to lose market share from strong competition and high $$ of Apple products.

MD5 is a one-way hashing algorithm. Basically what that means is you put data in, it interprets that data through its mathematical computations, then results in a hash that looks like "33cb0713552966326747b637f7f00c62".

This is useful in a lot of different ways. One way is if you put two files through MD5 which are only 1 bit off, out of millions of bits, they will result in a totally different MD5 hash. This allows you to verify if something you downloaded did not somehow become corrupt along the way.

Another advantage is you can put sensitive information like passwords through MD5. Once that is done, there isn't any "easy" way to reverse the process and figure out what the password is from the hash. This has 2 advantages: 1) you don't have to store the actual password, so if a host which stores authentication information is ever compromised, the hackers will only get the MD5 hashes of passwords and not the actual passwords. 2) If the host is passed anything as a password, it hashes that and then compares the hash with what it has on file. If it is sent the hash, it will hash that giving a totally different hash, causing a password mismatch and unsuccessful authentication.

The disadvantage is hashes do repeat themselves (no matter if unoften). This can be somewhat exploited with clashes, making two files look alike hash wise that are very different otherwise. If every single MD5 hash were unique, it wouldn't be a hashing mechanism, it would be the worlds best file compressor. The second disadvantage is passwords can not be easily recovered from people who legitimately need them.

Finally, one vulnerability is "rainbow tables" which is basically a lookup list of every different word/combination one might ever be able to think of which allows someone with access to those rainbow tables to find a hash. Once the hash is found in the table, the accompanying (unencrypted) password is there. This is why it is important to ALWAYS use "salt" when using hashing for secure password storage. This will ensure that even the weakest password stored in your database will have a complex and unique hash.

Hope that helps, just thought I'd enlighten you as I feel it's very useful information! (also online guides will go into way more detail than you'll ever need)
