coby mid9742 keyboard installation

I just bought a keyboard case for my coby mid9742 4.0 ics and plugged it in with the usb that the tablet came with and when I plugged it nothing happened. So someone told me to change the usb from device to host by going to advance setting, is this true? If so how do I get to advanced settings. If not then how do I get my tablet to reconize my keyboard?
