I called Verizon and they couldn't figure it out either. They even called HTC. They sent me a new phone that should stove today.

Saaaaaaameee issue, both with weather and e-mail.

If it's the task killer that creates these problems, why oh why do the verizon people themselves tell you to install it? The salesperson had me do so before I left the store.

    ::shaking head::

Should all go back to normal with uninstall of TM?

I won't say it is the task killer 100%, it could be another app on the phone causing a conflict. However, task killers have to be set up properly and you have to know what you are killing when you are using them. They are also not really necessary when you first get the phone. They may become needed, by some, when they have problem apps installed.

I would look at the most recent apps you have installed. If you have one that you installed in the last day or so, it may be the problem. Try removing it and restarting. If the problem continues, try removing the task killer and restarting. Lather, rinse & repeat. ;)

As for the Verizon people.....where do you think many of them get their info? Most of them are picking things up word of mouth or from here. Either way, I am willing to bet that the guy/girl telling you what to put on your phone does not own one.

Lol. He did not own one. He did, however, have a big ol' case of eris envy.

I'll contemplate uninstalling ATK now that I've read the whole Windows vs. Linux explanation.

In the meantime, I'll be a good lil user and pay more attention to WHAT I'm shutting down. I put weather, clock and mail (hotmail) on the "ignore" list so I won't be tempted to squash 'em. Restarted and it seems to be working better now. Suuuhhhweet.

I was not using task killers. Now the story gets stranger. I did a factory reset on the phone and as soon as i started up the SAME error message came up. When i called verizon they were very nice and sent me a new phone. I started the new phone up last night and boom, SAME message!! com.htc.provider has stopped!!! now, i did not install any new apps, not even the sd card. I called verizon. they made me do a factory reset on the new phone, then switched me to a guy at HTC support. He had me do another reset and as soon as i started up ERROR message and the phone still has me in detroit. I am in NYC. The tech at HTC told me to call verizon and get yet another phone.
By the way, the HTC tech said 2.1 is coming for sure but they have no idea when.
    Keep you posted

It could be. I just landed at LaGuardia and had this exact problem after booting up my phone. It has never happened at home (Chicago). Very, very weird.

    Oooooo. Interesting.

Especially considering I DID end up uninstalling the task killer and I am still having the same issue. Not as often, but it has not gone away.

It must have something to do with the stock HTC weather/time widget. I actually purchased the weather widget from Android Apps ($1.99), and it's not coughed up that error since. While it does cost money, I like it better than the stock one, plus it's more accurate to boot.

I'm having the same issue with my email but not the weather. My mail still comes in but the HTC widget stopped updating a little over a week ago. Oh well, phone still works well and I'm planning on getting the Incredible anyways.

Sounds like a re-flash is in your future. 2.1B is all I need. If you're running 2.1A then I would suggest flashing to 2.1B. The B version is very very stable. I have had no issues at all. Plus, it does run a lot faster IMO.

LOL!!!! HTC tech said 2.1 is coming for sure but doesn't know when?

    That's great!

This is an issue that must be limited to just Queens. Upon going back to LaGuardia for my return flight home, I got that FC error while waiting in the terminal, even with the new weather widget. I didn't have any issues in Manhattan, where I was for the bulk of my trip.

Okay, I feel I have to chime in here because I also just arrived at LaGuardia from Boston (I live in NY) and saw the error for the first time ever when I started back up after we landed. I also have not installed any new apps in at least two weeks though I have had a couple of them update but cannot remember which ones.

So it looks like we only have one outlier in Denver and everyone else is in NY!

To date there has been no fix for this problem. I sent the replacement phone back and kept the original phone. It has to be a verizon or htc issue. not the phone. how could two differnet phones do the same thing? the last time i spoke to verizon the rep told me he "refreshed" my settings. it did help for about a day. then back to that error msg. it has something to do with the phone trying to re-fresh or update itself. i have noticed that the weather widget from the market place works better. but the htc clock/phone widget is a disaster.

I've been having this problem also...when I called customer service they told me it was 'an internal issue with the phone that could not be fixed over the air' and to return my phone. when I took my phone into the store they told me it was a 'problem with an app i downloaded and you just need to hard reset'...which they did and the phone still didn't work properly. They gave me a new one, which I've had about 24 hours and am still getting errors on.

Kinda annoying that no one seems to know what's going on....

    btw, also in queens.

I was constantly having this problem on 1.5. I think it had something to do with HTC weather apps and gps, not positive though. The only fix I was able to find was installing the 2.1 leak. I have never seen it since.
