Im looking to get this or the Xperia X10 and I was wondering if anybody has successfully Rooted and got Wifi Tethering running on the N1.

I continue to use my 32gb 3GS for the tethering since the wifi available in my dorm is pretty terrible.

    Thanks in advance.

Why would anyone in the N1 section have a clue about X10's wifi tethering capability?

The N1 does it without the need for root as 2.2 supports it out of the box.

I think he is thinking about buying one or the other. Out of those two phones the N1 is the best so buy that.

If you're looking for functionality, I think you'll end up on the N1 side of the camp.
Oh what am I even saying, the nexus is superior on both form and function :D

OP: Just incase you only want info on the X10 and accidentally posted in the N1 forum, I've moved your thread to the X10 Forum :)

And to answer the poster question regarding root and tether
Yes its doable. I have rooted the x10 and tethering was a simple matter of downloading barnacle app from the market. Rooting was a bumpy road when I did it but seems to have all the issues smoothed out now.

Yep you can root the X10 and run Barnacle wifi tether no problems.

I wish we could get 2.1 or 2.2 on the X10a&i via ROOTING! Heck I think almost the entire X10 community would ROOT to get them, lol.............
