Connection to 3G USB dongle?

    Hi, Is anyone aware of an app that will allow you to connect to the internet through a USB dongle attached to the phone? My reasons for wanting to do this are that in general Internet access is expensive here in SA and I am on a contract phone with no data but I do have a top up option, which gives me 100MB/month for an equivalent of

    No, this is not possible, I'm afraid. The phone is a USB device in itself and lacks the ability to be a controller for other USB devices.
    This is a limitation of the hardware, I believe, and not a software issue.

    I have recently installed android onto my EPC netbook, would it be possible to use my 3g modem dongle on this?

    Hi Gemma

    Your netbook should be OK with using an USB Dongle as it has a USB controller.

    I know that my ZTE HSDPA USB modem MF626 works with Android 2.3

    Plug the modem in. The modem LED light should light up RED, after a short time it turns solid BLUE a further short wait and it should start FLASHING BLUE (other modems may have differing light colours).

    The ROAMING symbol then appears in the notification area.

    Check that your service providers name appears in Access Point Names (Settings > Wireless & Networks > Mobile Networks > Access Point Names).

    You may have to fiddle with some of the Mobile Network settings.
