I was searching for an application that would allow for the contact Name and Phone number to display on the lock screen allowing for the return of a lost phone. Not finding an application that did this got me to thinking of an alternate approach. A much simpler alternate approach is what follows:

1). Put a PostIt note on your desk.
2). Write your message including Contact Name and Phone number on the PostIt note. Be as creative as you like.
3). Take a Picture of the PostIt with your excellent Eris camera.
4). Set this Picture as your Lock Screen wallpaper.
5). Sit back and admire your creativity.

It's not a perfect solution but will work until something better shows up.

Hope someone else finds this helpful.

The Moto Droid (A855) or Android 2.0 doesn't seem to support this function! Bummer. The Eris has some advantages!

Can't get it to work on the Eris... no crashes, just won't display on the lock screen. Maybe I'm missing something?

On my Eris with the OTA upgrade... I can select menu->wallpaper->lock screen and it presents the photo album that can be selected from.

This is where I put the picture of the postIt with contact info.
