Contact List - Default Location

    I had syncronised and kept my contact list on the local phone then it crashed and it wiped my address book. The other day I noticed that the data folders are still in tact.

    Question:
    What is the default location where Android keeps the address book? I'm keeping my fingers cross and hoping one of these locations still has a readable text file with the data.

    My contacts are in /data/data/com.android.providers.contacts/databases/contacts2.db, but as the name implies that's not a text file (and if it were intact you presumably wouldn't be missing your contacts).

    You hadn't synced with Google, or exported contacts to sd, I assume. May be worth checking your Gmail account anyway (log on to GMail via a browser, click on the red word GMail and select Contacts. Are your contacts shown there?).
