Contacts keep disappearing until rebootSupport

    I am on Jellybean 4.1.2

    Anyone having a problem with their contacts disappearing?

    I mean...completely disappearing.

    When I reboot the phone they all come back, but at some point during the day they just totally disappear and my address book is empty.

    I'm having the same issue on my SIII running 4.1.1. Friend of mine also with an SIII also having this issue. I have to reboot several times a day to get my contacts back.

    Well, I hate to put it this way, but I am glad I am not the only one having the problem because at least it can be said that there is a common bug here.

    Wonder how I can get this reported to Samsung for a fix.

    You are not alone, nor am I! This has happened to me about 3 times now, all within the past couple of weeks. Not once in January or December. I am on Verizon v4.1.1. I have started uninstalling some apps that touch the contacts (such as Tango) but that hasn't helped. I wonder if it might be related to Touchdown or maybe even Google+ as they both create/merge contacts. I think I'll uninstall Facebook next, see if that helps.

    I can tell you that it is definitely NOT being caused by Touchdown or Google + as I use both and have never had this issue happen to me. Not once since day one. Most likely is caused by an app though creating this bug............. just not Touchdown or Google +or the GN2 itself. Sorry. Keep looking for that app that is causing this issue.

    Not only are my contacts continuing to disappear on a daily basis (until reboot), but programs are crashing as well. YouMail seems to always crash. I don't know what the heck is going on but I am getting very close to just doing a total reformat on my phone and starting from scratch. That would be a good half-day's worth of effort.

    I am having the same problem with mine as well. Spoke with Verizon tech about it tonight. They are not aware of any fixes for it and in fact hadn't heard of it happening at all. I have done two factory resets trying to see if that would clear it up but nothing.

    I too thought it might have been an app I was using called "contacts widget" but after resetting the phone and not installing that app it is starting to act up again.

    Thank you for beating me to that question.

    My phone was rooted the entire time.

    I just returned the phone back to stock firmware yesterday and will be watching the contacts situation closely over the next few days.

    So, yes, the phone was rooted. I look forward to what everyone else's situation is.

    Phone was working fine for a day or two after restoring it to stock firmware (unrooted).

    This morning my contacts disappeared until reboot.

    Think this is a Jellybean problem.

    Stock phone, no root. Was running a contacts widget but have since did a complete factory reset and have not reloaded the contact widget app I was using. It is still losing contacts and I have to reboot.

    I am rooted now with stock ROM I have had the problem whether rooted or not. Google contact sync is always in error status when this occurs.

    Fairly consistently I am able to get back to normal by "clearing data" on the "Contact Storage" service and then starting the Google account sync again.

    Try downloading "Contacts Sync Fix" from the Play store. This finally fixed the problem for me.

    Well if you're storing them in the cloud they're probably raining all over China right now. :D

    Kidding aside, the Store does have a few apps which stabilize the contacts and other social networking stuff. Syncfix is one that I like the best.

    Contacts problem is back.

    Seems to be happening when there is some kind of break to the WiFi or Cell connection.

    My contacts disappeared again yesterday.

    Update: I had Verizon send me a new phone (actually new not refurbished). No luck, still losing contacts.

    I tried the contacts sync fix but got a null value and it didn't fix anything.

    So here is my next option to try. I used the SIM from the first note 2. I am going by the Verizon store today to get a new SIM card to see if this does anything to fix it. If this doesn't work, Tier 2 gave me the number for Samsung Tech Support.

    Will let ya know what I come up with.

    So it's not a SIM issue because it is still losing contacts. The number Verizon gave me for Samsung Tech Support did not work so I will get up with them via their website and see what is next.

    Again, please keep us updated with contact information. The more people that call the right people at Samsung and complain, the better chance we have in getting this problem fixed.

    So I spent about an hour this morning between Samsung and Verizon. Samsung wants my phone but that is not possible so I got back wtih Verizon Tier 2 support and they are working this now with Samsung for a solution.

    After 10 days with no problems this happened again. Tried the contacts sync fix app again but it got an error. Back to square one.

    So for the folks who have had this problem.

    Are you also running the Facebook app and adding Facebook information to your existing contacts?

    I am and have turned this off to see if that might be the culprit. Thus far (24 hrs) I have not had any issues with the contacts dissapearing.

    I have discarded all apps that establish or use any type of contact list, Facebook and others, and disabled Google+ contact sync quite a while back.

    After about 7 days without an issue (after my first contact sync fix) I reinstalled a Twitter client. It may not have anything to do with it but note I have uninstalled it again.

    The only other thing that was different during my 10 day stretch without problems was that I was on the cell network all the time, no wifi at all.

    Well uninstalling the Twitter client didn't help, it just happened again. I am going to stay away from any wifi connection, see if that helps.

    I am on day two without any contact problems. For me anyway, it would appear Facebook might have something to do with it.
