    Hi,
I synced my SGS2 to the radio in my 2012 Hyundai Sonata. Phone works well but it won't download the contacts. Any ideas on how to solve this? Its kind of annoying.
    Thanks!
    J.

    Hello cruzmisl,

I just bought the gs2 a couple of days ago, changing from iphone. I have a 2011 sonata and was having the exact same problem, along with the "phonebook downloading" getting stuck in a forever cycle. After reading through every source I could find, I was finally able to get phone and my car talking. It works beautifully now. I did several things, I'm not sure which ones mattered and which ones didn't, but I will share them all with you. I will check back in a few days to this thread...if I am unclear about something, post it and I will try to clarify.

Just to be clear, I have an AT&T Galaxy s2...I don't know if it makes a difference, but there are apparantly differences with the same phone through other providers.

1st, I deleted all of my car's list of phones and started over.
When I paired my phone with my car, a notice came up on the top of my phone's screen asking if I wanted to let my car communicate with my phone (I don't remember the exact wording of the prompt). I pulled down the screen, clicked in, and selected "always".

2nd, I powered my phone off while in the car with the car running, and then back on again. I don't know why this would matter, but several threads indicated that it made a difference, so I did it.

3rd, I adjusted some of my phone settings. Again, I don't know if it matters or not, but here are the settings on my phone currently...and everything works.
    -open settings
    -open voice input and output
    -open voice recognition
    -select samsung powered by Vlingo

-go back to voice input and output
    -open voice recognition settings
*the following are my settings on this page
    language : English
    web search engine : google
    auto-dial : always
    use location : check
    hide offensive words : check
    auto-punctuation : check
    listen over bluetooth : check
    auto start listening : check
***then a little lower on the page is "voice talk settings"...click on that
    launch on Bluetooth : off
    autostart speakerphone : off
    show body of message: off
    wake up command : check
    only on while charging: off
    speak prompts: check

go back to voice input and output
    open "text to speech settings"
    Driving mode : check
    ***open "driving mode settings"
    incoming call : check
    message : check
    everything else: off

4th I powered off my phone again, turned it back on.
My sonata connected, downloaded the phonebook, and functioned perfectly.

I hope this helps if you haven't got it figured out already!

I figured it out. Once connected to bt go to contacts and in the menu hit import export. Then follow the prompts and export to sonata which is the name of my car. Works great now.
