Is there a method for controling an unrooted droid remotely from a PC? Everything I'm finding requires a rooted phone. I'd especially like being able to control it wirelessly. For my uses, WiFi and USB really don't provide any advantage over just picking up the phone.

    Thanks in advance,
    Andrew

Something similar to what I would get on a PC to PC connection with Remote Desktop, LogMeIn, VNC, or the like. That is, I would have a window on my PC the size and shape of my Droid2 screen. I would be able to use my PC's mouse as I would use my finger on the Droid screen, use my PC's keyboard as if I were using the Droid's keyboard, etc.

I'm aware of LogMeIn Ignition, NeoRouter, and others that let you control your PC from your Droid. I want something to control my Droid from my PC.

    Thanks in advance,
    Andrew

Try VNC, but I am unsusre whether it will work without root.

That's what I'm asking; knowledge of one not requiring a rooted phone. For example, there is "droid VNC server", but it clearly states that the phone needs to be rooted. It is the same for all others I have been able to find.

Is there one anyone knows about that does not require the phone to be rooted?

    Thanks in advance,
    Andrew

Check out PAW Server, a webserver for Android which includes "web apps" that allow you to do all sorts of things from the (remote) browser. It's rather amazing. Dunno if it will meet your needs but you can do a lot. Since the phone is a web server, you can send HTTP POST requests to it and accomplish the same things, like making calls, ringing the bell, all sorts of things. An API and docs are available.
