I use Windows Media Player under Windows 7 x64 to play music and video's, and VLC fills in when it won't play something. I don't want to install Quicktime or Real Player.

Is there an Android app that will allow me to control playback?

Like a WMP interface on the phone, with playback through the PC/monitor. I'm not interested in streaming.

I have a simple app that lets me control the keyboard and mouse but that's not really what I'm looking for.

It's not something I'd ever have use for, but I did find this:

Windows Media Center Remote - Android app on AppBrain

Is that sort of what you're after?

    Hmm...saw this too:

    Thank you.

myRemote is sort of what I had in mind but I was hoping to have a list of media on the phone itself.

I am interested in Android apps (similar as Bluetooth remote control for S60).
The goal is to be able control any software on pc so that user can config different profiles for different softwares and make own keymaps for all of them. With BRC I controlled media player, winamp, DVB Viewer, PowerDVD, etc... Also it would be great if it had a voice recognizion for custom command to perform scripts:
"Select movie" --> send commands to pc that dims the lights (X10 or Z-wave), opens for excample a net movie rental www page....

There should be something like this options in the menu that can be configured by the user:

Button1 - Voice command1 - script or key that it represents
Button2 - Voice command2 - script or key that it represents

If there is any or somebody is interested to build such an app, let me know. $$$ is also possible :)

    Project: Sivu avautuu ...

edit: there is an always-on home server (win7) that takes care of "everything" and it can be controlled with wireless keyboard + mouse locally and remotely with any pc that has internet access. The bluetooth/wlan app would make it possible to control "everything" also with smartphone

edit2: Apparently "Unified Remote" is the closest hit so far - or "AndRemote"
