    1. will nandroid make an exact copy of whats on my phone including apps. if not how do you make sure you keep your apps.
    2. my phone is brand new, 3days with new 2.1 from instructions here. can i root this to take advantage of cyanogenmod rom? or should i just revert to 2.0.1 and root then ROM?
    3. does cyanogenmod take care of all the kernels, baseband and other stuff.
    4. any other tips and tricks i should know.
    5. is there any lessons or tutorials on using rsdlite and other tools to load/modify ROMS? it seems that that is the real way to go vs. update.zips.
    6. i want to make sure i dont loose my paid apps, as one i bought was $20
    7. i also need to be pretty sure i can get it back to factory as i am considering swapping for N1 or incredible when and if released for VZW in the next 30 days.
i will say i do love this phone, i am pissed i waited this long because of all of the rumors of the N1 and Incredible. i think that has kept alot of people from buying a really really good phone.

Thanks in advance guys, i hope to one day be as knowledgable as some of you here.

    1. depending on the options you select yes

    2. As of right now you have to revert to 2.0.1 first or wait for someone to figure out how to root 2.1

    3. A 1ghz kernel comes in the rom and you can download and install others there is also an update.zip for the baseband

    4. There are hundreds just read everything you can on here for a day or two

    5. Stickys at the top of the All Things Root thread

    6. You will not lose any paid apps

    7. Also stickys at the top

Hope this helps. If I misinformed on any of these someone will be by shortly to correct it. :D

    1. yes
    2. AFAIK you can't root stock 2.1. You have to revert to 2.0.1, root, and then flash whatever you want.
    3. Cyanogenmod will install a different kernal, but also ROM Manager (app you can use once rooted) will give you the option of a bunch of different kernals, and also a seperate install for the 3P baseband.
    4. dunno.

    6. Your purchased apps are tied to your Google account. When you find them on the market again they will be listed as "Purchased" and you just download them again.

EDIT: Doh. I was too slow.
