    Hi everyone.

    I got this phone on launch day and it is actually my first smartphone, loving it so far. I'm not a complete noob though, I tend to do a lot of research and learn a lot about any new device I buy. I intend to root and flash an AOSP rom once that is available and reversible for this phone, for the sake of having complete control.

    Anyway, the reason I started the thread is described in the title. A small crack started to form a few weeks after purchase and I am not sure why, I baby this thing and it doesn't have a single scratch on it otherwise. I took it in to a Verizon corporate store and the salesperson told me that I need to take up a warranty claim with HTC if I want it fixed. Well, I decided to just live with it and a few weeks later, the crack has propagated and stopped at the screen. I will post a picture once I get around to taking one with someone else's camera (phone is currently my only camera).

    I definitely want this fixed on warranty now. Any recommendations on how to proceed with the least hassle possible?

    If you bought it from Verizon, they should not be making you deal with HTC. Verizon should be taking care of it. It should be covered under the manufacturer warranty, but Verizon should be able to replace your phone. You shouldn't have to go to HTC... I guess maybe I am way off base, but that is my 2 cents.

    The same thing happened to my phone. baby it, small crack noticed, then full crack down to the top of the screen. Love the phone, but the frame quality is horrible and way below that of the Incredible 2. It creaks more than a pirate ship. I tried to get it taken care of by verizon but they would not do anything and told me to contact HTC. Just gonna live with it and hope that HTC comes out with a better built phone sometime. This phone would be perfect if it was a unibody like the One series.

    Alright. I went into the corporate store near me again and got the same story, even after asking for the manager and arguing for 20 minutes. Went to another store about 10 miles away, explained the situation, the manager took a look at my phone, and a new one should be here next week. So I guess it depends on the store you go to. Some want to help and some just want you to go away.

    Ya, that sounds right... I don't think the first store you went to should be able to deny you the manufacture warranty. I mean if you dropped it, there would be evidence of that. Glad you got a new one... I hope I don't have to deal with that.

    I think maybe you just got a lemon? I have no issue with the build quality of this phone. It is very solid, it feels great in my hand, mine has no creaks what so ever. I have had every Incredible out so far and have had no issues with any except the horrible reception of the Inc 2... Maybe if you can't get Verizon to replace yours, get some insurance on it and accidently run it over. Just Saying ;)

    The back cover just seems too thin. Mine creaks at the top left side and the bottom where you open the cover.

    Other than that I am satisfied with the phone even after the home screen loading issue which was resolved after a hard reset.
