Currents recomendations

I got a Nexus 7 for Christmas and recently started going through the Currents app/service. I'm quite overwhelmed by the sheer number of publications in each category, and haven't heard of many of them before.

My question is: What publications do you enjoy for News (political/world), Science/Tech, or Entertainment? What do you like about them? what's special/unique about the way they do things?

I use currents all the time.

I use android police(tech), deadspin (sports), popular science(sci/tech), scientific american(sci), the independent(news), and a few others based on googles weekly recommended ones.

Sorry, I'm not much into politics.
