I was reading around some different forums that someone has successfully installed cyanogen rom on the milestone, although with the locked boot loader I don't understand how this is possible. Or is this just another mistaken droid/milestone identity again? Many people still don't understand that these are two different devices.

What you read is true, the CM can be loaded on the milestone but for now has limited functionality.

They do this by replacing the original mot_boot_mode file with a new one that contains a script to stop the default init.rc from loading and then they load the custom init.rc. It takes a lot of tweaking to get it running and when it's ready for a public release they'll do it.

One less thing the Milestone haters can throw at it. We already jumped the "not able to overclock it" hoop.

That will be a leap forward when we can do that. Course having the boot loader unlocked would be even better.
