So, I'm assuming Cyanogen doesn't have anything for the Ally....
No. there used to be someone working on porting it but it since disappeared
Darn. oh well. I'm wanting to run a custom rom on my ally, but all the forums on the subjects are written in Klingon/Greek.
I'm continuing to read, though, so I won't ask the stupid questions yet.
if you have any questions dont hesitate to ask here or in the IRC
These ROMs on here (Trident and Raptor) are VERY good...great ROMs. I'm not a full on techy...I do dable though. I'm more of a, "motorhead" that does. Engines and pcm tuning...so, like most things I've learned...I've had to read. ..A LOT. ..and most times more than twice.
I've learned HERE mostly by reading...and the rest by asking. These guys here are ALWAYS very willing to help.
I'm pretty sure an question or problem you have...they've already dealt with or prev. helped someone with the very same thing.
This msg. Board has great people and great ROMs...its DEF. worth learning a thing or two and downloading a ROM AOR TWO (donating is def. a nice/helpful way of saying "thanks" BTW...lol)
Best of luck! These guys helped me NOT regret my decision to get an Ally.
Seen03 - I second that!
We won't have a cyanogenmod port until we have a working froyo build. We could get CM5 as it ran off of 2.1, but thats some outdated stuff.
Well thanks to dres, we could have froyo shortly.
good deal. I'm an enginehead myself, so all this
'partitioning' and 'overclocking' is still alien to me. But yeah, I'll keep reading and asking! Thanks all!
we do have a [mostly] functional build of froyo on the ally. any news on CM?
Its in beta, you can't expect a port to CM instantly. Once froyo is finished MAYBE someone will work on that, but there is no telling.
Especially since gingerbread is out so cyanogenmod will end up moving to that sometime, but not for the ally ( i have my doubts sorry)
i dont see why not if we can port 2.2 im sure 2.3 is possible
The guy is having to completely recompile the OS 2.2 for ally from scratch, and its taking a while to get this far, and the full potential is still far off. Hes barely supported by the community, sure everybody offers to help test, which is good, but from what i understand he gets hardly any donations for a project he doesnt even benefit from!
Great strides have been made yes. But porting a Rom to an alpha build is not a smart idea. Especially when so many primary features still wont work...Lets learn to walk before we run a marathon ya know?
sorry bein positive was all
Wasnt being harsh or hating in any way, just saying that its jus not practical at this time
