    Cyanogenmod For Droid

    Changelog
    http://github.com/cy...clair/CHANGELOG

    Features:

    * Clean shutdown/startup system
    * NO APPS2SD. I've implemented a hack that will store the dalvik-cache of system apps in /cache, which saves you ~40MB on /data. A better APPS2SD system is being worked on by Chris Soyars
    * Built in USB tether
    * ARM NEON optimizations from 0xdroid and Qualcomm
    * Includes BusyBox, htop, nano, powertop, openvpn, bash, and all engineering commandline utilities
    * FLAC audio support from Kenny Root
    * Phone enhancements from Cytown
    * Contacts enhancements from Wysie
    * Perform zipalign-on-install of applications
    * DeskClock tweaks- longer autosilence and "require unlock" option
    * Huge collection of ringtones and audio
    * All available locales are included thanks to PsychoBoy
    * 360-degree auto-orientation by Optedoblivion
    * OpenVPN integration thanks to James Bottomley
    * Many other bugfixes and tweaks from AOSP contributors

    All source code is available at the Koush Github

    Changelog link does not work, but I am guessing that is Cyanogen's log.. What else did Koush change? any improvements?

    Just wanted to add that this ROM rocks! I have the Remix version from JRummy and it is FANTASTIC! It is now ready for everyday use for everyone...I loaded it on my wife's phone and she can't deal with any stability issues herself...so I'm careful what I put on there for her. :)

    Haha! I just repeated your comment to her and she laughed. I then explained that things can go wrong when rooting/OC'ing a phone....and "I voided your warranty". She had this "Oh Shit" look on her face and then I laughed. :D

    You're a brave man... ;)

    I loaded Jrummy's themed/remix, and am wondering when updates come out from Cyanogen will I be able to load them via ROM manager (got the premium version) or will I have to wait until Jrummy does another update on the Cyanogen update?

    For isntance, if Cyanogenmod comes out with 5.0.5.4 tomorrow, can I load it via ROM manager, and if I do, would I lose anything that the Jrummy version I installed provided?

    BTW - I am impressed w/where this ROM is from a previous version I tried...really has improved. I've only been using it a few hours, but initial impressions are very positive.

    Unfortunately, no...you cannot. If 5.0.5.4 came out tomorrow...you would have to wait for an update from JRummy. flashing the new version would rewrite all the files that were themed. You might have the script functionality...but I'm not sure. If you did, then maybe you could use the scripts "bluetheme" and "blueframe" or "greentheme" and "greentheme" to get the theme back but like I said...I don't know if that will work due to what is overwritten by the update.

    Oh, and I totally agree with you. The ROM is completely functional and I haven't found any bugs whatsoever (I haven't been reading CM forum to see what others are reporting though). 5.0.5.3 is so much better than previous releases...and for the first time, I am not waiting for an update on something (other than flash of course) to improve my phone. I see the people in the non-root droid forum and wonder...how bad it sucks to be them...lol They are still dreaming of LWP's and MT native applications other than Maps. They are not even going to get 5 screens...I'm loving the 7 screens...I can't imagine 3! lol

    I remember I did a YouTube video on dxTop back in December (I think) and it was so nice having the 4th screen. :) How things change!

    Darn...yeah, I was afraid of that. I really like the theme that jrummy's version has, so I'll have to do some reading about how to maintain it as the updates come out - don't want to have to wait for jrummy to remix each time.

    Howcome this ROM is on the ERE 25 release while everyone else with 2.1 seems to be un the ESE 52 release? I though the ESE 52 was the newer, and better release since that is what is going to be released to us in the next year or so? lol

    I pulled this from the Cyanogen forum. I don't know if it explains it perfectly but...

    Well, used the ROM all day and the main negative is that when returning from an activity like navigation or adding a new app from the market, the home screen populates slower than I'd like - Beautiful Smaller Home and Google News/Weather widget (news only) - can take a few seconds to appear.

    Seems very stable, no FCs since I fixed permissions, everything I've tried so far (phone, nav, wireless, market, email, etc.) all seem to work w/out issue.

    Hey guys, I've had the droidmod ROM for awhile, but I'm looking at trying this one out. Can anyone tell me why I have to wipe data and what exactly that means? Am I going to lose everything on my micro SD?

    droidmod is 2.0 based and the data is not compatable with 2.1. you will not lose your sdcard data just the phone data. however within rommanager you can do backups just to be safe. also when you flash through rommanager it will ask you backup? wipedata? select both.

    good luck.

    wiping data just means that your phone will be exactly as you first got it. nothing on the home screen and no market apps installed. the sd card will not get touched

    EDIT: That also means you lose any text messages and stuff of that nature that isnt saved on the sd card

    You can use SMS Backup and Recovery to Backup and Recover your texts if you need.

    Better option in my opinion (as I have used SMS Backup and MyBackup previously) is to get Titanium backup. The free version is great, the donate version is even better.

    When you do a batch backup on either version...choose "backup all user apps and all data". When you restore, choose "restore all missing apps and data" and then after that is done, go through the entire lists and restore what you want or need.

    Example: Restore Email...restores all of your pop3/imap/exchange email settings. Restore Clock...restores you alarms and clock settings. Restore SMS/MMS...restores your SMS and MMS messages...it really is a great app!
