Root CYNOGENMOD 9 for Atrix 4G- ROM Manager Problem

Can somebody please help me? I am trying to switch ROMs all on my own.

There are a few problems I encountered;
1. I thought I had rooted my Atrix 4G- the Superuser app was download, but trying to open it brought up nothing. It would make me force close it. I thought that was normal, so I continued on to the next step of unlocking the Bootloader anyway, which deleted the Superuser app. I thought that was normal too- I still don't know if it's wrong.

2. Now, at the very last step, where I have to flash ClockWorkMod Recovery, I can't seem to get it. I keep getting an error, "An error has occured ..."

What android version are u usein and what method did you use to root?
