I just got the Evo last week and since the first day I have been getting an error 67. I have been in contact several times with Sprint customer care (you can get more details in my post in this thread )and the last thing that I was told was. On a roaming tower, which I am on when I am at work, data is not guaranteed.

Now I just have a few questions...

Is it because of CDMA? I mean, do the GSM networks in my area have a conflict with sending data to a CDMA phone?

Is it due to not having 3g coverage? I know with my past phones if a 3g connection was not available it would revert back to an EDGE connection. Can the EVO do that?

Or is it because of some contract dispute that the roaming towers won't let the data traffic threw?

Seeing how most of the time I will be in a roaming area I would like to know if there is a light at the end of this tunnel, or will I just not be able to depend on my data connection.

Sounds to me like changing carriers might work better if you are always roaming with Sprint.

Anytime I roam, I'm limited to 1X internet. I try to stay away from internet while roaming for that reason. If you are constantly roaming I would switch carriers.

I have data disabled if I'm roaming. Don't want to risk getting a huge bill for data roaming.

Excuse me! Are you saying I will be charged for data roaming?

If you have the Sprint Unlimited plan with unlimited roaming, then no, you will not be charged. However, if you do not have this plan or option, then yeah, there is more than like some roaming charges coming for sure.

I don't have the unlimited roaming. I have the Sprint Family plan with unlimited data and text with 1400 minutes. It's just an extra precaution I take.

AFAIK there is no unlimited roaming option. it's limited to like 300mb roaming per month. GSM and CDMA networks are incompatible. It's like trying to stick a blu ray into a cd player, just won't work. That being said, switch from sprint if your on constant roaming.

Read links in sig for more details on CDMA/GSM

You will have to show me this one.

I beleive I have read everything and I do not see where roaming data is limited to 300mb. Actually I find that the only limiting going on is with mobile broadband cards not smartphones.

Read the sprint ToS. Its amazing how many people don't read these legally binding contracts in full before they sign....

Chatted with a sprint CS rep....

    9:59:10 PM :
    Philip S: Hi.
    9:59:11 PM :
    Me: hello

    10:00:08 PM :
Philip S: May I have the details of your concern ?

    10:00:28 PM :
Me: Am I limited to 300mb roaming data?

    10:01:24 PM :
Philip S: Can you please tell me which country you are in roaming ?

    10:01:42 PM :
    Me: US..Michigan

    10:02:49 PM :
Philip S: Michigan is under Sprint coverage so no roaming applicable for this location.

    10:03:31 PM :
Me: There is no roaming where I am here in Michigan?

    10:05:04 PM :
Philip S: Further, I have checked your plan includes unlimited data access so you will not be charged anything for data usage while in U.S.

    10:06:00 PM :
Me: So I am NOT limited to 300mb when I am connected to a roaming tower?

    10:07:54 PM :
Philip S: Let me check this for you.

    10:09:19 PM :
Philip S: As your plan includes unlimited data access, there is no limitation of 300mb use for you.

    10:09:44 PM :
Philip S: So you are NOT limited to 300mb usage.

    10:11:44 PM :
Philip S: Is there anything else I may assist you with ?

    10:12:21 PM :
    Me: No..Thank you.

And we all know e-care reps are reliable sources of information.

    Here's the contract you signed:

Here's the excerpt pertaining directly to our discussion.

Hardcorp: never, ever trust a CSR for accurate information. Ever. This is not necessarily a knock on them; a lot of times, they are not provided the proper information to help anyway.

Never base any decision on what they say.

Sprint will cut you for data roaming.

Well I'm not going to worry about it too much seeing how 99% of the time I am roaming I just plane can't connect.

I from what I have read even though they have lowered the roaming data cap not many have been charged when they are on the Everything 1500 plan , which I am on.

So I will just keep an eye on my bill and make adjustments.

Thanks for all the info and help guys.

My Moment tells me if I'm roaming and ask if I want to use data.

My EVO shows a triangle above the signal bars when I am roaming.
