Death of My Triumph and what to do now.Support

My Triumph took an unfortunate tumble into a vat of mop water over the weekend. After a brief moment of hope as I poped the battery out and put it into some rice all hope has died. My poor Triumph is dead, and it shame since I just got another one from warranty less than two months ago. Should I try VM customer service again? The fault was gravity, but I should have been more careful. There is a lot of dust under the screen already and I've heard of people getting new phones fore the dust.

And if the day has come that I need to buy another phone what are my options? VM has been great since I bought the Triumph. Is the Evo V worth buying? Another option that I haven't heard of. I wouldn't be against switching carriers if there is a better reasonably priced phone out there for no contract or prepaid.

    Thanks for any help.

Bummer about your phone. It's always worth checking if the accident is covered by insurance, but I wouldn't hold out too much hope.

As for alternatives, it's not Apple ;) - there are lots of alternatives, each with different strengths and weaknesses that will suit different people.

I have an Nexus 4 which I can highly recommend however, it only has 16GB of storage so wouldn't suit someone with say, 30GB of music they absolutely HAD to have with them at ALL times.

To give people a better idea what to suggest, they would need to know roughly how much you want to spend and what you sort of thing you would like to use your phone for?

For example, I use a phone primarily for listening to podcasts, e-mail, the calendar, a bit of browsing, checking out news and playing the odd game of free cell. So I really don't need something as powerful as an N4, but I really like it anyway :)

If u go for another triumph then I don't believe u have to have that 5 dollar insurance or whatever it is to get replacements. I neva had it and I got like 7 replacement triumphs.

Go buy a bag of white rice for around 99cents.
take out the battery and back off of the phone and put the phone inside a bowl and submerge it completely in the rice. Wait 24-48hours. Your phone may come back to life. This is the first thing anyone should do if your phone gets anykind of water in/on it.

I will use my triumph as a mp3 player to take to the gym/track. I just jumped over to the Nexus 4. Had the triumph for about 15months though and was a decent phone for the 150price I paid for it and 25/month plan. But lot of constant reboots, freezes, lags, gps slow lock, and other annoyances (and NO SUPPORT from motorola) added up to me jumping to N4.

Things are getting interesting in the all things root section of this forum. If it were me I would try for a warranty replacement before I bought a new phone.

I turned to the evo v. Ever since I decided to try an develop and just do everything until my phone brick and so far I got one ROM ported and two more I'm working on. So in my case since I had a triumph laying around I decided to become a android developer....... Kinda

Sadness! Phones and mop water make such lousy companions :(

No need to buy a new phone: I can heartily recommend Swappa as a place to buy gently used Android phones.

    Hope this helps :)
