    evening guys

My dad has asked me to debrand his HTC wildfire because there's a ton of vodaphone software on it and the start up time is a joke

I have never debranded a phone before, so can you useful forum members tell me

    what i need to debrand

after completion will it be as HTC made it? (factory settings)

will all the stock apps be on?

please provide me with any links to debrand and any help i could need

    cheers :)

I have just successfully unbranded my wildfire using this guide. One quick question. When (and if) Froyo comes to our Wildfire can we still update it OTA?

    Yes.

Branded handsets will have to wait until their carrier releases froyo branded.

Its only rooted handsets that won't be able to update OTA.

You just have to have the goldcard in your phone. You MAY even need to have it in your phone when installing OTA updates too, but not entirely sure.

You download the RUU to your PC, connect your phone (think you need to connect to HTC sync with usb debugging on) and you run the RUU.exe on your PC. It detects your handset and flashes it.

I'm certain I've correctly created the GoldCard and when I ran the RUU, it detected my phone - screen switched to a black screen with HTC in white but other than that, nothing.

    Any suggestions?

    Cheers

Try www.Seunlock.dk I olso have a x10 mini and it worket fine, it kost about 10 $ or 75 dkr. Ask them if it works for your contry. My wildfire is not branded so i have not uset it on it

All I can tell you is that I created the gold card as per the link in post 5 and downloaded the ROM mentioned. When I ran the programme it told me to use the latest version. I found the link I posted for the latest version and used it last Wednesday (10th). I saved the download, ran the programme and it did the job. Sorry I can't be of more help.

Evening guy's and girls, my first post here so be gentle

ive been trying to de-brand my UK Vodaphone wildfire, i followed the post below and it took a bit of faffing about to get working as i had a driver issue!

after i sorted the driver out i finally managed to run the RUU and it completed its install, ive now inserted my new sim card and i keep getting sim lock come up :mad:

now i followed and did everything to a T, so i cant work out why i'm still getting this issue!

could anyone shed some light on the issue? was i meant to do the RUU install with out any sim card in it?

edit - i have a feeling i'm being a div and the debranding doesnt remove the sim lock!!!

As far as I'm aware, de-branding doesn't unlock the phone. You still need to get an unlock code. I paid Vodafone

    Thanks for the reply Harry!

For some odd reason I had it in my head that it would remove the sim lock!I'm going to try give vodaphone a call today!:D
