1000 mhz or 800 mhz is NOT the frequency at which CPU operates during deep sleep. It is the frequency at which CPU need to be statically set just before entering deep sleep.
During deep sleep, CPU is almost completely turned off, except for very few sub-components in Soc like cell radio.
Correct. It's entered naturally.
If it does not then investigation is required. Ie something is keeping your processor awake when it probably shouldn't be.

This thread is old but I been using fauxclock intelliplug and I have set the screen off max freq to the lowest it can be and my phone goes into deep sleep every time I turn the screen off (lock) this saves battery but I wonder on what freq deep sleep runs.
