I would try re-creating a new gmail account with the same account name as you had before (I've never deleted a gmail account, so I don't know if it actually deletes or just de-activates). If the account didn't actually delete, but only de-activated, try re-activating it and deleting them from there. If it did delete the account, creating a new identical one with an empty contacts list should then sync your contacts back up to it, where you can manage them from the gmail account.

Alternatively, you can delete them from your device individually, or simply go into your contacts, press your menu button, choose "display options", and deselect the Google checkbox associated with your google account that was deleted. That will hide your Google contacts.

How do I delete contacts on my Vibrant that are saved to the sim card? It won't even let me edit them. It will say that it's deleted or edited but when I click on it again it's the same as it was before.

Are they "linked" to another contact? Sometimes you have to "unlink" them before you can delete the duplicates or the ones you don't want.
