yesterday i read this on the rollback thread

"Anywho, with the Desire root method being released tomorrow, (It'll probably work on the Incredible too! ) that gives us a closer chance to rooting the Eris leaked 2.1."

just wondering if any of the devs have looked into it and if so what progress has been made?

"Anyone here using a Droid Eris and stuck on 2.1? I can probably help you."

Taken from the twitter page of the guy that rooted the desire/legend. Haven't heard anything more yet.

    No Problem man :)
Just keeping things in their correct place...
And Paul the guy that got this root is gonna be doing a lot more stuff...
So hopefully once we all start trying this on phones like the Droid Incredible and what not...it will maybe trickle down to help....

so does that mean you know how he did it, but just havent tried it on the eris yet?
or that you need to work with it a little longer before you can get this method to work on the eris?

I'm also talking to the guy who routed the desire. He said he can help people who are stuck on 2.1 and want to get back. Will keep you updated on that too. If something works I will for sure be posting a thread about that ;)

Thats great. I am looking forward to the opportunity to be able to go back to 1.5, I dont prefer to because 2.1 works great, it would just be nice to have that capability and be able to root as well.

It doesn't look good at the moment.....

    Paul O'Brien just tweeted:

"No progress with the Eris i'm afraid. Been talking with a few Eris users, and it doesn't look promising."

    Dang it man!!!!

The original internal codename for the Eris was Desire.
