I have noticed in 1.6 that when I manage applications, the previously huge Device Management data is no longer 40MB, so I don't have to delete it any more. It's more like 40K. So it has freed up a bunch of additional space on my phone now for apps, which is most certainly welcome.

Probably because they don't need it anymore because they know there won't be an update anymore.

I am curious what all that 40MB was. I would delete it and didn't effect anything. And it would just be back when you restarted the phone.

It wasn't anything. It is reserved space for the ota update.

Well nice to have it gone and have that space back at least.

I had to hard reset my phone and the 40MB came back. Had to delete it again.

I flashed my phone to 1.6 and the 40mb are still there? I wonder why? I was really looking forward to that extra space. Oh, well......

Just delete it. I did. Doesn't do anything but give you extra space. If you master reset, though, you will lose them again.

I know i can delete it, but it keeps coming back. Since inaz4sun post said that it changed to 40k instead of 40mb, i assumed it would remain at the smaller file size in 1.6. Maybe inaz was mistaken and read something wrong. I just wanted to know if it's actually supposed to be smaller now?

That's cool. I was just wondering if the OTA update did something different to the device mangement compared to flashing the phone to 1.6. 40mb is a lot of space on this phone!

In 1.5, I deleted it and nothing happened. But in 1.6, I just deleted the data and cant install anything!!!! I guess I have to restart my phone.
