I have no idea what HID is and have no clue what "other full-featured functions" means. I'm not particularly knowledgeable on Bluetooth and I wouldn't make the assumption that whomever receives your email will be.

In any case, I'm happy with how Bluetooth works on my DInc. I can press the button on my headset and make calls and I can receive calls through my headset as well.

    Anon,
Thanks for your input and the possibility that whoever receives this email may not be savvy either. I have updated the letter above.

I agree the Bluetooth headset feature works well, but the addidtion of HID (Human Interface Device) and SPP allows Bluetooth keyboards, mice, and connecting to cars with bluetooth.

My needs are for the Incredible to support my Bluetooth keyboard and mouse. I use my Incredible to VPN into my clients servers when I am away from a PC. It would be a great service to me to walk through the mall or anywhere else with my family without keeping track of my laptop.

    • I would like to have it connect to my car's bluetooth, but that is not my biggest problem.

Not everyone has the need for more Bluetooth than a headset support, but there may be more Incredible users than we know who would like this.

Here is just one article that kinda explains where I'm coming from:
Droid Incredible's Bluetooth Having Problems Connecting To Cars, Keyboards, And More

    +1

    I drive a BMW 325xi.

The first time I ever paired it up, it kicked me off a couple of days later. I completely deleted the connection and set it up from scratch and haven't had one issue since (over 3 months now and running)

I got a Kia of some kind as a loaner car a while back while my car was in the shop. My DInc paired with it just fine and I was able to send/receive phone calls with no issues. I only had the car for a day or so though.

That's good to know! I'll look at my car radio's Bluetooth connection a bit closer tonight. -- I was always showing that it paired, but would change it's status to "connected". Perhaps I can have it updated at the dealer, if need be. -- Like I said, car bluetooth is not a big deal to me, but sounds fun.

But I have a feeling that no one else here has a need for bluetooth keyboard and mouse..
since no one has touched that topic..

I want a BT stereo in my car very badly. I just want to be able to stream audio from my phone to my car without needing the FM transmitter. I want to plug the phone into the cigarette lighter, have BT turn on, have it pair with the radio and go happily on my way. I just need the stereo at this point.

I use an FM transmitter. PLug and play (I use tasker to make it just that easy).

I have an H710 Motorola bluetooth that doesnt work with my Incredible (my voice does not get heard). HTC said they had no list of devices that would work.

Is this initiative aimed at all towards this kind of solution?

Yes. If your BT headset works on any other android phone, especially another htc android phone, then htc needs to look into the incredible's problem.

You could test your bluetooth headset at any given kiosk of any carrier htc phones, if you felt the proof of concept was necessary.

The Wii Remote feature is HUGE. This needs to be fixed. Playing emulators with the controller would be AMAZING. I'm still hesitant when thinking about cm6 because it doesn't have all of the features implemented yet. Once that gets done, I'll jump on board. HTC is terrible with custom service.

Many couple year old car Bluetooth units have problems with newer phones. I think it has something to do with BT 1.0 vs. BT 2.0 signals. My Aussie made '06 GTO also shows connected to my DINC, but is a no go. It's a known problem with the GTO BT unit and can be cured with a software update. In my case that sucks because Gov't Motors never offered the BT option here in the USA (Part of thought pattern that lead them to go belly up) and so many GTO owners had to import the unit from Australia ourselves. So I've got to pull the BT unit out of the car, send it to Aus. and have them update it all at my cost and then reinstall it. The car's BT worked well with my old Moto phone. Part of the cost of technology changing faster than sin.

I've definitely had issues with my Bluetooth connecting in the car. It will connect fine initially then disconnect and reconnect multiple times. I wasn't sure if it was an issue with my phone or my car but after searching around, it seems it's a phone/bluetooth problem. Now the big question is, is there a fix?

The only issue I ever had was pre-FroYo which finally gave me the voice dialing I came to know and love so much.

I have heard snippets of stories about HTC causing certain aspects of Bluetooth to operate but I'm not sure which profiles it effects.

Ok, so I followed the instructions, as I too would like to connect a wii mote and play some games. This was the response that was given to me:

I understand the importance of having full Bluetooth functionality with your HTC Incredible. All Android devices use Google's Android Bluetooth stack. The current version of Android, 2.2, does not have the functionality with HID or SPP as you mentioned and we are working with Google to provide more functionality in future builds; however, at this time, we do not have an estimate on when these features will be available to Android. I do apologize for any incovnenience that you may have experienced.

To send a reply to this message or let me know I have successfully answered your question log in to our ContactUs site using your email address and your ticket number

So there you have it, apparently it's android that's holding us back.

You realize that Cyanogen is a mod right. I linked to the Wikipedia site that says Android 2.2 doesn't support it. It could be something Cyanogen cooked into their mod. In any case, I don't think there's a large ground swell of people who are pissed off because they can't use a keyboard on their phone. I've never looked at my phone and wished I could use a mouse on it myself.

If everyone thought wikipedia had all the answers, then roms like cm6 would never have happened... And BT keyboard/mouse on a phone can lead to greater advancements..
Htc is innovative.. Its disappointing to see a poor email response from htc.

I asked this question to HTC about their bluetooth SPP protocol support:
"Droid Incredible No SPP bluetooth functionality? Quietly NOT SO Brilliant! Will this be fixed ASAP? I wanted to get this phone this month until I heard of this glaring deal breaker shortcoming. My second choice is the Droid X by MOT. I will hold off for a couple of weeks to see if there are any changes to this issue. Can you give me HTC's position on this issue."
    They responded with this:
"I appreciate your interest in the HTC DROID Incredible and you were wondering whether this Android device supports the SPP (Serial Port Profile) for Bluetooth. Unfortunately, the Android operating system does not support the SPP profile for Bluetooth. If you want to use a SPP profile, you are welcome to look for a third party application like Bump from the Android Market." Now it's my understanding that the Android OS baseline kernel is to be patched by it's adopters to function on the hardware they use. The support for a particular bluetooth profile is built into the firmware at the driver level of the chip set used and it's up to the hardware mfg to patch the Android kernel to work with their driver that's why the DroidX from Motorola has support for BLUETOOTH v2.1+ EDR
    • Bluetooth Profiles supported: Headset, Hands

BT does not work with my new 2011 BMW. It's completely absurd. The BT stack is incomplete and HTC hasn't done a damn thing about it.

My Dinc will pair with Uconnect and will alternate showing "paired but not connected" and "connected to phone etc." several times. Phone is unuseable during this time. After as many as 10 of these iterations the phone will connect and become useable. This usually takes 5 or more minites
It was suggested that a hard boot might correct this problem but no luck. I have paired an LG phone to the truck with no problem.
The Dodge dealer checked the Uconnect, no problem.
Uconnect people say the phone is not compatible with thier system.
Verizon was no help at all.
I sent an email to HTC and will wait for a response.
