R reader Well-Known Member Thread starter Jan 6, 2011 129 0 Dec 5, 2012 #5 Dec 5, 2012 Add bookmark #5 the side buttons are for volume control and for opening a menu for "plane mode, silent mode, turn off" all the above functions can be performed with other menus from inside the OS so, blocking the hardware buttons, doesnt mean that we wont be able to perform their functions with other ways as for why to block them, well they are placed in areas that are used to handle the phone, so they get clicked unintentionally very often Upvote 0
