I hope it will have NFC. I am also on DX and I don't see any advantage to the MAXX just because of battery life. Should have had ICS at launch. I guess it takes a while to fine tune the VZW bloatware. Would go Nexus but build quality and battery life are negatives.

I'm in the same boat as you. I almost got the Razr Maxx but changed my mind at the last second of the lack of ICS.

I agree. The Sammy and HTC radios are weak compared to Moto radios. As much as I hate Moto's lack of support, their hardware is superior, so I want to see what this brings to the table before upgrading my X.

That's not what I heard. Do you have a source?

I can't quote a source, but I had read that Motorola will be releasing unlocked versions of their phones. Like the non-carrier-specific Nexus line of phones they will cost the full retail price since they won't be subsidized. That's the price of a subsidized phone--bloatware! I would not mind paying full price for a phone if I could get a lower bill too. You used to be able to get a lower monthly rate if you had your own unlocked phone, but now there is no way around it. You are always paying the contracted rate. So I just get the subsidized phone and thanks to Android, root and do whatever with it. Some people get new phones on contract renewal and then turn around and sell them on CL.

Nope, sorry, no source. Just and observation I was making. With Google now owning Motorola Mobility, I would think they could just say to Motorola, that they would like it if no overlays were installed over the Android operating system. But I could be wrong, just that I'm hoping not. I think we'll still see the bloatware from the carriers though.

    Time will tell,

So riddle me this... If the Fighter is getting ICS in April, why do the current Droids have to wait until Q3? One possibility is the fighter gets vanilla ICS, and the rest wait for blurred ICS. Probably just wishful thinking, but it's odd Moto would take that long to release ICS to the current phones if they already have it running on the fighter now if it's really being released in less than a month.

Regardless, the Fighter has moved to the top of my DX replacement list.

I would guess that new phones would comeout with ICS because they are new phones and why would Google/Motorola make double work for themselves. i.e. release the phone with GB now and upgrade to ICS later. Easier to just release with ICS. Now the older Droids will get ICS on a "when we get time" schedule. i.e. Those phones are already out and working with whatever OS they have, and they'll get the upgraded OS if and when we get time.

Just my best guestimate though. I have no inside information.

Right noe the Droid Fighter is the only phone that could potentially get me to give up my beloved "X".

I wish, this new Motorola Droid Fighter would come with more sensors (ACCELEROMETER, MAGNETOMETER, PROXIMITY SENSOR, AMBIENT LIGHT SENSOR, GYROSCOPE, BAROMETER, THERMOMETER, UV SENSOR), dual SIMs capabilities (GSM, UMTS, CDMA, WCDMA), and IP68 dust-waterproof.

    It MIGHT!

Right now we have no idea regarding the Fighters specs. So for all we know, it may come with many of the sensors your asking about.

I was due for a new phone in February. Holding out despite $30 bionics at tiger direct.

And you know Verizon is going to want $400 plus a new contract for the fighter. (Stupid name isn't it, good name for an iPhone or windows phone though). We don't buy phones for their names though.

What was the last phone they charged $400 for with a new contract?

    Welcome to the forums!

    Why a uv sensor?

    (looks around...)

First staff here? Woo hoo! Howdy, Fighters! :)

OMAP 4470 you say? Very interesting...

This may or not be the new Droid Fighter. Nothing new regarding specs, but some different pix. (If it is indeed the Fighter)

New Motorola device surfaces, looks much like the Droid RAZR

If the Fighter is truley going to be released by Verizon on 4/12, we should start seeing some leaking info I would think.

You're right about the lack of info, which makes me think it's not as close as some reports say.

    And see post #13 :p:)

Things are way too quiet.. assume it's not going to be on the 12th. Hope I'm wrong, it won't be the first time.
