Root Do I need a gold card for all ROMS, if I'm branded?

I know I need a gold card if I'm installing the official HTC froyo RUU. But I am now rooted and planning to install a custom ROM (LeeDroid). However, I have never yet installed a ROM on the phone, so my current OS is still the original HTC sense. Not sure if that means I'm still considered branded, as the startup has been changed (no annoying startup sound in the HTC logo screen).

I have already partitioned my SD Card w/ EXT3 for the APP2SD version of LeeDroid. Do I still need to "gold card" it, and then wipe/partition it again? FWIW, I do not plan to do OTA updates.

you dont but its worth having if anything messes up as it gives you more options for recovering your device
theres no excuse not to make one and cover your ass

Like rasta says... if you have to recover using an ruu, unless you have a goldcard you can only use the correct branded ruu.
