    - yes

    - no

Let's talk our reasons for our answers here (as nicely as possible :D).

My 1.5 is just fine. I don't know what else to say. Details to follow, if anyone is interested (I've posted it all many times in threads around the forums related to 2.1 leaks, etc).

Yes. I have always been an early adopter for everything. I was a paid beta tester for AOL back in the day, and for Compuserve as well. For years my computer had more beta software on it than official software. I want to be on the bleeding edge. So what if it's working well, I want to see if I can make it work even better ;)

The OTA, at least the leaks, seem to have other qualities/changes than improvement in function: it seems to be an entirely different OS, unless I'm mistaken in what I've understood from reading reports in here.

That is two things that some of us just do not need: we got the Eris as the OS it was, a design that looked and acted good, not to mention the second thing being it works fine, no bugs (again, for some of us.. I've read around and seen complaints from 1.5 users, too.. and again, it makes me wonder about quality control, as well as user error or lack of know-how now and then).

Waiting for the OTA, I want the real thing and don't want to go through the process of the leaks.

I did enjoy 1.5, but i needed to Navi for work. I had an LG dare before the Eris and i was one to pay $10 a month just to use thier VZ Navi. With 2.1 leak i now have the NAvi plus a way BETTER market. The new market layout is worth the update itself. If you havent downloaded the 2.1 leaked by now you might was well wait. tomorrow is thelast ay of the first Q1.

Nice to see a patient one who wants the upgrade. ;)

It is obvious that the overwhelming majority want the 2.1 software OTA. I just would like to see just how many people with the Eris are fine with 1.5 enough to not even want to install the OTA.

Two so far. But the night is young. :D

I probably dont really need a smart phone. I have this phone because I liked the design, and the Android OS.
I have probably less than 15 apps, and I seldomly use most of them.
What is most important for me is that the phone functions as a phone, and I can check some websites on the go.
With all that said, if something better is available, I will gladly use it. It will open up more options for apps, and maybe there will be something I really love that I couldnt have had/done with 1.5
For one I know I am going to use the Nav, and I am excited for that. That is probably the main reason why I have been itching for the update so badly. But I have waited, and will continue to wait for the OTA. Its not important enough for me to update right away and deal with the bugs however few there may be.

I decided to stay with 1.5 until OTA comes, not to say that im not checking these boards daily to see if they've started rolling them out.

I'm still running 1.5 and I'm going to wait for the update since 1.5 seems to do everything I want. But I want the latest and greatest.

I wanted 2.1 for Google Navigation, so I upgraded using the leaks, and I'm happy that I did. The update also solved another problem that irked me: the lag in 1.5 when I hit the "end call" button. I often hit the button twice (because I thought it didn't work the first time), and that caused it to redial.

When I bought the phone in December, the salesman insisted that we'd get an OTA update with Google Navigation within "a couple weeks," which is the reason I was comfortable buying the HTC Droid Eris instead of the Motorola Droid. When the January OTA update didn't bring what was promised, I became rather impatient.

My wife still has 1.5 on her Eris, and she's perfectly happy with that because she already has a Garmin in her car. She does NOT want the update because she's afraid it will mess up her apps.

I don't feel like setting up my phone again so I want the OTA ;) Honestly I thought the phone was great with 1.5 but I like 2.1 better.

I have the first leak right, and unless someone knows of an app that will restore all my Settings, screen layouts, and Better Cut icons I will be waiting for the official OTA. Not worth all my time to set up my phone how I want it again.

I use my Eris a lot... so much more than I ever thought I would. From email to taking video of my 8 m/o daughter to watching tv or movies and organizing my insane schedule with the calendar and g tasks, I use this thing constantly. This, of course, worries me. But thankfully I have learned many painful time to back up everything.

With that said, if 2.1 will increase the functionality of a phone I already use so much, then yes please.

Still loving 1.5, but impatiently awaiting 2.1

Didn't install the leaks. Not that I'm a novice, it looks simple to me. I'll just wait till they get ALL the bugs out (well, most of them anyways).

I held put for as long as I could on 1.5, but then I got into a minor fender bender with my son in the car, and it seemed like nothing on my phone worked. Voice dial call (my wife) would open and start pandora radio dial pad was so laggy, that by the time the cops got there, I was fit to be tied. I'm a cop to, and they thoufht that I was gonna rong the other drivers nexk. I had to explain that my phone wouldn't work, and had to use theirs. Bottom line of this long story is 1.5 let me down when I needed my phone the most. That's why I installed the leak.

I want 2.1 for the Navigation. But I don't want a buggy leak so I'll wait. 1.5 works great so I'm in no hurry.

yea, I agree with a previous post, I don't feel like setting everything up again haha, plus I'm not that a serious of a tech nerd so I'd probably fail at trying to install the leak and/or dealing with the bugs. But I would really like the OTA sometime soon! I mean, I am happy with my Eris on 1.5, but anything to make it function even better is something I want!

My question is will the OTA update mess up the apps i've already got installed? I sure hope not, i've spent the last 3-4 days downloading and installing apps. I guess even if i did have to it wouldn't be the end of the world.

I'm still on 1.5 and like it just fine. However there are at least a half dozen ver. 1.6+ apps that that I will definitely use. USAA banking, Text To Speech, and color identifier (don't ask) are all very high on my list. I can do without dancing bananas on my wallpaper, but there's a whole new world just 1 point release away from 1.5.

Will we be able to keep all our settings and data when the OTA comes out? I think 2.1 leak to 2.1 ota yes, but 1.5 to 2.1 no. I can't picture a lot of people out there would be happy if they had to loose all their settings because of an update. I know my dad would rage big time.

1.5 was alright I mean I liked my phone with 1.5 (except no GPS whcih was pretty big downfall for me) I upgraded to leak 2.1 specificlly for the GPS and now I couldn't imagine going back it's just 100% better and yes I want OTA as I'm sure it will just be even better then what I have and if not at least my phone will be back under warrenty lol

So bascially i'll need to set aside about a half day to reconfig the phone and download all the apps? LOL i used to have to do this with windows pcs, not a damn cell phone, thats just ridiculous. I'll be sure to call verizon and give them a piece of my mind if thats how it is. I'm all for more features but come on, this isn't the windows platform. This is why the iphone will never be dethroned. Well back to waiting for the verizon iphone :/
