Yes I experienced it too. I assume it has something to do with the Sense UI overlay of the dialer. I noticed this lag on other devices which HTC created custom dialers for as well. The dialer on the Droid is rock solid.

To answer your question though, yeah I have lag on my dialer as well. I've even scoured the store for another customer dialer to no avail.

oh yes. lag opening the dialer and lag dialing each number. even when i hit the call button after I dial the number. This happens on all htc phones. I had the touch pro, diamond and touch pro 2 and all of them did the exact same thing. This is what happens when you have a overlay over the original dialer for android. Just like touchflo for Windows Mobile

wonder if it will be addressed in the new update, or perhaps a custom rom when 2.0 is released

If you turn off sense ui, the dialer still looks the same but acts as it should.

Sense UI is terrible. Like a Hot chick with no common sense. Sure, it looks good, but damn it sure does make things difficult.

I noticed that if I clear my call history it helps a lot. I'm also wondering if it has something to do with the facebook contact syncing?

I use voice dialer or go thru my people list, so I have never really noticed. Just tried dialing a few numbers and had no problem really. Do you mean sometimes when it hesitates a split second to register the number after pressing it? If so, thats nothing.

I still don't understand the "dialing the wrong person" issue. Mine is with the HTC contacts widget, I will press a contact and sometimes wait up to 15-20 seconds for the call to start! I also hate the fact that HTC made the widget dial as default without the ability to set it to open contact, for that you have to hit right on that tiny little name below the pic, something I get maybe 1 out of 30 tries!

No idea how to turn sense ui off. Kinda disappointing if you "have" to turn it off. I know what your sayin khagg, thats the most frustrating thing. I do that all the time. I guess we can only hope its fixed in the near future.

Is there a dialer/phone app in the market that fixes it? I seriously doubt it, but worth a shot

I tried atakephone as an alternate dialer. The lag was even worse. :(

Well that sucks. I know its 2 totally different applications, but if you use the calculator, just play around with it, it responds super quick, no lag at all. Seems like it would be an easy fix for android or htc

Sorry, I thought everyone knew how to turn off Sense UI. Under your settings you go to Application> Application Managment > Scroll Waaaay down to Sense UI. There will be an option to FORCE CLOSE it. Bam you're done.

do mind that you'll lose the sense UI widgets and be reduced to 3 home screens. but damn it's fast as ballz. The dialer is fast.
